You See an Interactive Fiction Game in Front of You...

From TechSource Gaming Symposium

Presenter: Christopher Harris (School Library System of Genesee Valley BOCES)

Description: This session would be a perfect fit for anyone who wants to bring gaming to school libraries or forge a game-based partnership with a school. Interactive fiction, also know as text-based adventure gaming, combines the mental stimulation of gaming, the challenge of game creation, and English Language Arts standards. Using the free tools shared at this session, your gaming group will be ready to begin creating a new world with a primary focus on content instead of a complicated graphical engine.

Intended Audiences:

  • Administrators and others who hold the purse strings and approve policies
  • Pretty much any librarian
  • Youth librarians

at:

  • ANY TYPE of library

Listen to an MP3 audio file of this session (42MB, 45:28)

An audio recording synchronized to the slides of the presentation is available in QuickTime format or for the iPod.

The presentation for this program is available as an interactive QuickTime movie (3MB) or a full-page PDF (3MB). A much smaller file of a 6/page presentation handout for printing (460KB) is also available. These are being hosted on my website at http://digitalreshift.org and will remain there.
