Within this article the author asks:
"Any funding source, or official sanction; for example, was the State Library of Kansas branch in SL officially sanctioned by the management of Kansas library in the real world?"
Would it have been so difficult to just ask? You could have clicked on any object in the State Library of Kansas virtual site, found the owner... most likely Rocky Vallejo, and sent me an instant message.
But in answer to your question... two years later?... Yes, the State Library of Kansas site in Second Life is officially sanctioned by the State Library of Kansas. Because of our volunteer work within the Second Life Library Project and some donations we are not currently paying any library funds for the library's presence in Second Life.
Someone sent me this URL and suggested I respond to it. I know I'm way late in doing so but am glad I did.
