Description: Libraries are an incredible place to offer youth and adults opportunities for informal learning. We don’t have federal mandates, our success isn’t measured by how many students pass our tests; we can take risks and guide learning in a variety of ways. In this session we’ll talk about our experiences teaching youth to use Scratch to develop rich media projects and how we evaluate our success in teaching 21st century literacy skills to this new breed of youth. We’ll also address why it matters. As a bonus, we’ll share the secrets of excellent community based collaboration and partnership.
