Presenter: Richard Glass, Marsha Spiegelman (Nassau Community College)

Description: This presentation highlights the on-going gaming collaboration between a college reference librarian and mathematics/computer science professor that infuses information literacy as an assessable component in mathematics and computer science courses. From their 'no programmer required' Web 2.0 based games to their new Second Life "Shape Game", the authors engage millennial students in an environment that not only fosters learning but expands the role of the reference librarian and extends the contact zone of the library. With over two years and twelve courses using this approach, the authors will demonstrate positive outcomes, discuss best practices and share student feedback. They will also discuss how their games can be easily adapted to other disciplines and will share experiences and ideas on fostering collaboration.
